Real Sociedad 2021/2022 away shirt – An underrated beauty!

If you have to name 4 Spanish football teams, you probably won’t include Real Sociedad. Yet, they have produced some beautiful shirts, and the Real Sociedad 2021/2022 away shirt is no exception. The team from San Sebástian (Basque Country) have been working on their reputation as an underrated squad. The Basque club has been surprising us with many talented youngsters the last years. Here, you can read everything about this Real Sociedad shirt, as well as some of their players.

The design

The Real Sociedad 2021/2022 away shirt is manufactured by Macron, and it has a unique dark maroon color. The kit combines this color with a fuchsia graphic all over the front of the shirt. Both of the colors create a cool transition (v effect) in between them, giving the shirt more detail in general. The Real Sociedad crest and Macron logos are white, just like the FI Network sponsor. The Kutxabank sponsor on the back of the shirt is white too. The collar is maroon and has a white line in the middle. To top it off, there is a white Macron logo on both sleeves.

When it comes to the name set, this shirt uses the La Liga template in white. The shirt is customized with the official name and number of the Swedish Alexander Isak. The lines in the ‘1’ and ‘9’ create a 2D effect. The same is done in the name ‘Isak’. The numbers on this shirt has Real Sociedad logos in them.

The shirt has been customized with the La Liga patch. We can find this patch on all shirts of teams being part of the Spanish La Liga football competition. On the left sleeve, we got the ‘Reale Seguros’ patch, which is an insurance company in Spain. The Real Sociedad 2021/2022 away shirt also boasts the Basque flag just below the collar on the back. Next to this flag, we can find two more fuchsia stripes on both sides. At the bottom of the shirt under the armpits, this shirt has tho small white stripes as well.

Real Sociedad talents

Alexander Isak, the Swedish youngster who has been impressing the world with his effective way of playing football. He is one of the most popular Real Sociedad players at the moment. Isak even played for Borussia Dortmund and Willem II (Dutch Eredivisie) before he joined the Basque team that represents the city of San Sebástian. When he played for Willem II, he broke a Dutch record. He scored a hattrick out of 3 penalties in one match! Isak joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2019 for 10 million euros and made his debut against Valencia CF.

Mikel Oyarzabal went through the youth academy of Real Sociedad before making it to the first team. He made his debut in the fall of 2015 against Levante. He has been an important part of the Basque team ever since. Oyarzabal has played 217 games in which he has scored 61 goals so far. He showed how important he is for Real Sociedad by scoring the only goal during the Copa del Rey final in 2020. This goal gave Real Sociedad an important win over Athletic Bilbao, their arch rivals.

David Silva is another Real Sociedad star I shouldn’t forget to mention. You may mainly know him from his time at Manchester City, where he played 10 consecutive years. He won 4 Premier League titles, 2 FA Cups, 2 EFL Cups and 2 Community Shields with Manchester City. He also won the World Cup 2010 at the expense of the Netherlands. David Silva is one of the more experienced players in the current Real Sociedad squad, being 36 years old. The Spanish attacking midfielder has played 17 matches for La Real and has scored one goal so far.

Final thoughts and my opinion

Real Sociedad have released some very nice away and third jerseys besides their consistent home shirt. This season’s away shirt really grew on me last fall, to the point where I needed to buy it. The combination of dark maroon and fuchsia is not something we see that often in the world of football. Besides that, I’m a big fan of purplish and pinkish football shirts. The details of the Real Sociedad 2021/2022 away shirt, like the beautiful Basque flag, make the shirt very special. This is definitely an underrated shirt I’ve not heard many people about this season. We sometimes forget about the ‘smaller’ or less popular football teams. In general, less common shirts are absolutely more special than we may think.

My rating: 8.5/10: the design of the shirt looks great. The combination of colors is special and the way white is used on this shirt (the printing and sponsors) seems to be a good option. Detail-wise, I can’t complain much, either. The shirt has enough small details (stripes for example) and references to Basque country (the flag and Realea Barnean). These elements make this jersey unique. This is just a wonderful shirt, in a few words.

Furthermore, I shouldn’t forget to mention that I have been a fan of Alexander Isak since he joined my favorite German team Borussia Dortmund. He has been quite unlucky regarding his injuries. Nevertheless, I’m glad he shows the world what he is capable of at Real Sociedad. His number 19 suits this 21/22 away shirt perfectly in my opinion. This has to do with the fact that I prefer less mainstream numbers, for example 19 or 31.
